Honkers!

I was tired of driving dangerous drug traffickers, drugged up transients and very drunk people for Uber and Lyft.

The hope is that full time commuters will appreciate me doing this for free, and tip me generously. Tips are never required, but always appreciated. No one is obligated to tip. I am also not obligated to drive someone again (even if they do tip).

No no no. That's not what I do. You need a taxi. I am not a taxi.

Competent drivers around the country will want to ditch Uber and Lyft to become a free-spirited Honker! I mean, can you blame 'em? So here is how it will work: My website is merely a guide. It is up to you to use it responsibly. I have no interest in regulating or controlling anyone who wants to offer others free rides. I allow the Honkers! name and logo to be used free of charge for non-commercial purposes. This means that as long as you only offer free rides, you can use it, but you cannot modify it.

I have developed a solution: People can offer people free rides, wherever they want, whenever they want. It's a free country. But if they want a listing on my page "Click here to find a Honker! near you", then they will need to meet certain criteria. Every Honker! will want a listing posted to the page where Honkers! was born. It will add an element of legitimacy to them, but, I am in no way responsible for them. They don't pay me, and I don't pay them. I simply give them a free listing if I determine that in my opinion they are reasonably safe drivers. For a driver offering free rides (a Honker!) to get listed on this site, they need to meet my standards. I cannot guarantee that they are safe. I can only make a general assessment. If they don't meet those standards, no big deal. They can still Honk!, because, who am I to stop them? I just won't give them a spot in my Honkers! directory. I can add/remove anyone from that directory, with or without reason. Why? Because they don't tell me what to do and I don't tell them what to do. In other words, if you're in that directory, it means that I think you are safe enough of a driver to drive me. This still protects the freedoms of drivers and riders alike. This is in sharp contrast to the Orwellian control and psychological manipulation that Uber and Lyft exert on their drivers.
