Description
USF SACD presents a lecture titled "Architectural Analogue" by Carrie Strickland, the founding principal architect of Works Progress Architecture in Portland, Oregon.
Event Details
What does architectural design look like if approached without
aesthetic but instead with a clear conceptual diagram and a knowledge of the city? How might this inspire a more resilient urban fabric than buildings that are caught up in the Contemporary? Through her practice, Carrie Strickland found a radical strategy that responds to these challenges, while creating a masterful collection of urban infill projects.
Carrie Strickland, a native of southern Ohio, earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Design, Architecture, Art + Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Carrie founded Works Progress Architecture in Portland Oregon in 2005. W.PA, now with offices in Portland and Los Angeles and Denver, is working in transitioning neighborhoods and communities; amplifying economic growth and creating dense, livable, mixed-use environments.
This lecture is presented as part of the USF School of Architecture & Community Design's Fall 2018 lecture series.
