TAMPA BAY M.L.K. ORIGINAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS

The Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation – Often Imitated, Never Duplicated – ORIGINAL Battle of The Bands is a spectacular marching band EXHIBITION that showcases the talent of high school marching bands that utilize the traditional (90-degree knee lift) marching band style.

This style originally pioneered by BIG TEN university marching bands such as the University of Michigan, was adapted and perfected by HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGE & UNIVERSITIES marching bands and over the decades has become the marching band style of choice for many collegiate and high school marching band programs all over the country. However, all marching bands regardless of concept or style of marching are welcomed and encouraged to perform at the OBOB.



The OBOB will feature Tampa Bay Area high school and middle school marching bands, community drumlines and dance teams. The featured collegiate marching bands are:



The Albany State University Marching Golden Rams AND

The Edward Waters College Triple Threat Marching Band
