Description

Friends of the River's 20th ANNUAL Holiday Boat Parade is a celebration of life in a city with a beautiful, healthy river flowing through it! Mayor Jane Castor arrives @ 5:45 to start the PARADE @ 6:00 pm. Check in for boaters 4:30 - 5:30.

Event Details

Parade goes upriver, to end between the I-275 & Nebraska Ave. bridges where we say Happy Holidays to the Sulphur Springs community's party at Sulphur Springs Park. Mandatory check-in & registration is from 4:30 - 5:30 pm.

PARADE ROUTE: Starting at 6:00 pm, as Mayor Castor gives the word, paddlers lead the parade, followed by powerboats, with the Friends' Safety Boat and Tampa Police Dept. Marine Patrol boat maintaining separation between paddlers and powerboats.

Once paddlers cross under I-275, proceed upriver along shoreline on either side of the river, leaving the broad middle section open for powerboats. After ~ 15-20 minutes in the Springs area, the Parade will be declared over, at which time powerboats will lead the way back downriver, followed by the Safety Boat and Marine Patrol and, finally, paddlers, to Lowry Park or your final destination on the river.

RULES: All paddlers and representatives of power boats must check in 4:30 - 5:30pm at Lowry Park boat ramp. Sierra Club Outings waiver forms must be completed for each participant and submitted prior to event or at the Sierra Club table at the boat ramp.

MANDATORY WAIVER: Watch for waiver form via email from pmcomptonfl@gmail.com after you "buy" your FREE ticket, and return form completed for each member of your boat's party in advance to pmcomptonfl@gmail.com.
Completed waiver forms may also be submitted at Sierra Club Outings table from 4:30-5:30pm. ALL participants must be listed on a waiver form submitted prior to 5:30 pm, 12-15-19 - NO EXCEPTIONS.
