Event Details

Another great songwriter showcase at the Independent Bar Tampa featuring Ed Woltil, Taylor Reed Music, Liam Bauman.

Best known for his work as singer, guitarist and chief songwriter for St. Petersburg art-pop band The Ditchflowers, Ed Woltil has garnered numerous regional and national awards, including First Prize in the 2000 USA Songwriting Competition, Gospel category, and Runner-Up in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Folk category.

NPR has featured Woltil’s music on Open Mic, and Performing Songwriter magazine singled out Carried Away, The Ditchflowers’ 2007 debut CD, as a “Top 12 DIY Pick.”

Woltil’s seminal power-pop trio, Mad For Electra — revered by critics and fans alike — helped shape Tampa Bay’s vibrant original music scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s. He was also a one-time member of fellow scenesters The Headlights, Florida’s revered folk-rock standard bearers. Ed has had the privilege of opening for Richard Thompson (twice!), Alex Chilton, Graham Parker, Procol Harum, Marshall Crenshaw and Chris Isaak.

Taylor Reed Music Taylor Reed is an RnB, pop, neo-soul artist touring regionally and nationally. Her formative influences range from innovative icons such as Janet Jackson, Coldplay and Mary J. Blige, to classical pillars like Johan Sebastian Bach, cutting her teeth as a violinist in a gypsy jazz improv troupe showcasing in downtown Ybor City, Florida. Taylor channels her natural creativity and spontaneity through a looping station, building an elegantly layered, engrossingly soulful sound. Weaving violin melodies through groove-infused creations, her music elevates any space.

Liam Bauman is a fresh face on the local and regional music scene, whose recent performance at the Crowbar turned the heads of many of Tampa's finest songwriters in attendance. Pulling influences from multiple genres such as Indie, Alternative, Rock, and Folk, the multi-instrumentalist has captured a unique sound while keeping a familiar feel.
