Are robotics and artificial intelligence going to be a job killer or job creator? Technology and innovation are rapidly changing the workplace and impacting the job market. As automation continues to be a trend impacting every industry sector, many studies have pointed to the risk of job automation. Communities must address the skills gap to keep up with technology changes in the workplace. Like other industry revolutions in the past, jobs that exist today may not be the same jobs that exist tomorrow.

According to reports by the Brookings Institute, “almost no occupation will be unaffected by the adoption of currently available technologies.” This will require the attention of business and civic leaders working with government at all levels; federal, state and local, to address the change in skills that are needed for the jobs of tomorrow.

Young professionals will have to remain on the cutting edge of technology and possess the skills needed to stay competitive in the job place and bring efficiencies to their business. This vision series will focus on newly created jobs across Tampa Bay’s diverse industry base. We will hear from a panel of industry experts on where they see the future of their industries heading and the skills that young professionals will cultivate as new jobs are created and technology continues to change the way we do business.

Drinks and light appetizers will be provided.
