The breakout hit SILENCE! The Musical, the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, opens this Friday, October 16h at the Straz Center for Performing Arts.  This is the second time the Jobsite Theater and the Straz will co-produce a musical in the Jaeb. Last night, we were honored to attend the final dress rehearsal and host a Periscope broadcast featuring an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at this hilarious new production.

We learned from Director David M. Jenkins that SILENCE!  originally premiered on the internet and quickly moved Off-Broadway where it scored multiple awards.  The ingenious inception of Jon and Al Kaplan, SILENCE! has played to sell-out crowds in London, New York City, Los Angeles and now Tampa! Watch our interview with the David to learn a little more about the production and how it made it's way to Tampa:

We also had the opportunity to tour backstage with Choreographer Alison Burns and chat with the infamous Hannibal Lecter, played by Jonathan Harrison.

Alison spilled a few secrets about the props and shadow play that make this production unique and Jonathan told us why "I like to eat people":

Even though it's Halloween season and many still have nightmares from the original film, SILENCE! is a parody with plenty of mature humor. There's no blood, guts or gore, just plenty of good unclean fun.  We had the chance to talk with Ryan Sturm who plays Dr. Chilton about the comedic side of this production:

Another highlight of SILENCE! is the music.

A live three piece band plays a variety of tunes ranging from love ballads to Vegas show tunes and a little country along the way. Check out this clip of the musicians and actors warming up for the evening:

Pretty soon, it was time for the show to go on! Tune in below for an exclusive sneak peek of the first scene of SILENCE! The Musical:
