Oh, sandwiches. What’s not to love about them? Aside from coming on more varieties than you could ever imagine, these little pieces of heaven between two bread slices are portable, rarely pricey, and when done right, insanely delicious. All throughout the Tampa Bay area there are a ton of establishments slinging sandwiches for the hungry and food-font masses. Here are a few of our favorite sandwich shops in Tampa.
Mr. Dunderbak’s – This German food and drink mecca in North Tampa has been a local favorite for 40 years. Their beer selection is nothing short of absolutely massive and their sandwiches are classic deli creations that keep many coming back for more. Choose from varieties including Black Forest Ham, Veal Bologna, Capicola, Summer Sausage, and more.
Brocato’s – Brocato’s is another legendary sandwich shop in Tampa well versed in classic Cuban cuisine and more. Located just outside of historic Ybor City, Brocato’s will hook you up with delicious lunch selections including one of the best Cuban sandwiches in Tampa, devil crab, roast pork sandwiches and roast beef sandwiches.
Wright’s Gourmet House – Wright’s is the place to be for authentic and generously portioned deli sandwiches and more in South Tampa and beyond. Their sandwich selection is huge, varied, and delicious with selections ranging from Cuban to roast pork, hot pastrami, corned beef, beef martini, and many more. Wrights also specializes in salads, deserts and cakes.
The Bricks – The Bricks is relatively new on the Tampa sandwich scene but they’ve made some fast headway with their cool, skateboard vibes, delicious drinks, and out of this world sandwiches. The Bird and Pig is an absolute legend and comes filled with roasted chicken, bacon, brie, apple, agave nectar pressed between sweet Hawaiian bread.
Moxie’s Cafe – Moxie’s is a sandwich forerunner in Downtown Tampa. They offer a huge variety of sandwiches big and small in varieties like Reuben, tuna accordo, egg salad, Cuban, Italian beef, and more. In addition, Moxie’s offers a variety of breakfast selections, soups, and salads.
