Description
Have you ever walked inside a giant lung?
Event Details
That’s exactly what The LungXperience – a 14-foot tall by 9-foot wide inflatable lung and interactive augmented reality exhibit – aims to do when it arrives at the Tampa Bay Senior Expo on Tuesday, October 22nd to empower the community to learn more about the newest advances in the fight against lung cancer.
Lung cancer is the number-one cause of cancer death among men and women in the US, and Florida is particularly hard hit:
- Florida ranks 26 out of 51 states for the number of new lung cancer diagnoses each year, with a rate of 63.3 per 100,000 people.
- Unfortunately, most cases among people living in Florida (46.9 percent) are not discovered until a late stage when survival is lower.
The LungXperience roadshow is traveling to cities across the US and will offer a look at new ways of thinking about lung cancer. For example, did you know that Stage 3 lung cancer is treated by physicians with curative intent? And that a diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer does not necessarily mean that a patient has run out of treatment options.
From 10AM to 3PM at the Tampa Bay Senior Expo, located at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, visitors will have the chance to walk through the exhibit and learn about the different stages of lung cancer and treatment advances using augmented reality technology.
