The Gasparilla celebration dates back to 1904 when a group of businessmen created a reenactment of the legend of José Gaspar, a pirate who was said to have terrorized Florida's Gulf Coast. The first Gasparilla parade was held in 1907 and has since become an integral part of Tampa's culture. Gasparilla is celebrated with a number of events throughout the city. The main event is the Gasparilla Pirate Festival and Parade, held the last Saturday in January. The festivities include the legendary parade, a Downtown festival, live music, and epic bar crawls.
The annual Downtown Crawlers Gasparilla Bar Crawl in Tampa has become one of the most exciting Gasparilla events in Tampa. Every year, the streets of downtown come alive with the sounds of revelers dressed in pirate costumes and shouting "Gasparilla!" as they march through the streets. Downtown Crawlers hosts the best pre-party for locals and travelers alike.
From 9 am - 3 pm on January 28th, taking place at 7 locations throughout South and Downtown Tampa, grab brunch at this epic Gasparilla bar crawl as this pre-party is one event you don't want to miss. With a Crawl Only ticket for $29, you will get access to almost every bar in South and Downtown Tampa as well as welcome shots, drink specials, and more below. Get a brunch ticket for $69 and enjoy an upscale buffet-style brunch along with bottomless mimosas from 9 am - 12 pm. Upgrade to VIP Brunch for just $20 more to also get guaranteed entry into the coveted Big Wave Treasure Cove on Bayshore during the parade. (Limited availability.)
