Event Details

The newly opened Let There Be Rock School in Riverview, FL, is thrilled about its newest addition - Summer Camps. Held from June 5 through July 17, three camps are open to students ages 10-18.

The camps are broken into new musicians, musicians interested in songwriting, and musicians seeking to produce their own cover songs. Students can make new friends who share their passion for music.

"I am beyond excited to see what kind of potential artists and new players we get during our first summer camps," explained Dave Cortino, co-founder and instructor. "We are planning on an existing agenda that will adapt to the level of the student but also push them to perform live after just a week. This is going to be awesome!"

In the New Musicians Camp on June 5 – 9, students will have Monday through Friday to learn a song, rehearse, and be ready to perform at Let There Be Rock School movie night. The hours, 10 AM-2 PM, include lunch, and the cost is $300.

"Slots are limited! With added summer flexibility, there will potentially be opportunities for additional summer camps, depending on demand," explained Kevin Sitaras, co-founder and lead instructor.

The Songwriting Camp on June 19 – 23 targets students with at least a few months in lessons. Students will be discussing the songwriting process, dissecting music from different genres, and composing their own song to be performed at Let There Be Rock School Friday night movie night. The hours, 10 AM-2 PM, include lunch, and the cost is $300.

The final camp is Song Production Camp, during July 10 and 17. As an experienced touring musician, Sitaras will take students through the entire recording process. Students will pick a cover song, and Sitaras will guide them through refining the music and recording their own version of it. The hours, 10 AM-2 PM, include lunch, and the cost is $600.

"When Kevin and I initially discussed the music school, one of the "must haves" was a recording studio, and we have it," said Cortino. "We are thrilled to offer this program to aspiring songwriters. We aim to provide a supportive and creative environment where participants can develop their skills and explore their artistic voices. We believe that music can connect people, and we are excited to facilitate the creation of new cover music that will entertain our audiences."

Sitaras added, "At the end of the two weeks, the students have a finished product to keep forever. As an added bonus, they can shoot a music video if we finish the recording process fast enough."

Led by these passionate music teachers, Let There Be Rock School Summer Camp is a fun and supportive environment where students can learn and grow as musicians.

Sitaras said, "No matter your skill level, we can find a camp for you. Have you never played an instrument before? Cool, here's a guitar and a few chords. Have anger issues? Great, here's a pair of sticks. Go hit the drums! Want to scream your insecurities at the world? We have you covered. Here's a microphone. You have a gig Friday. Let's do this."
