Golf and nature enthusiasts have always found the aesthetic of an emerald course breathtaking.  The spectacular combination of sport with greenery, water, sand, and trees are what make golf the competitive yet serene game many love.

Recently, Cheval - north Tampa’s idyllic golf and athletic community - collaborated with home builders Taylor Morrison to develop 26 new homes along the golf course’s 17th hole.

The remarkable aesthetic of the hole was the creation of world-famous golf course designer Steve Smyers.

According to Cheval Golf and Athletic Club owner and operator Larry King Jr, the goal of working with Mr. Smyers was “to create a challenging hole that was a stunning reflection of the new addition to our community.”

He added that the new hole is reminiscent of some of the more famous “island green” layouts found at the best courses in the United States.

“When playing our course,” King noted, “players will now have to be mindful that the whole round may come down to how well they execute on the 17th hole.”

A Spectacular Addition to the Community

In an effort to ensure that the new hole aligned with the visions of the community and developer, Larry King Jr. partnered with former homeowners association president Don Webster in addition to Taylor Morrison executive Jeff Deason.

“We are very excited to see our community grow,” Webster remarked. “True collaboration is the only way a project like this could work.”

Webster continued by mentioning that the 17th hole is “one of the first things you see when you enter through our main gate and the design of this signature hole makes a statement.”

He added millions are continually being invested into the community to “continually improve the quality of life for our residents and guests.”

In addition to the beauty of the 17th hole, a major landscaping project is underway in Cheval. The effort aims to beautify and refresh the already picturesque and distinguished community.
