We have another American holiday coming up: National Fried Chicken Day on July 6! Although we all like our chain chicken, why not treat yourself to the best fried chicken in Tampa at these local restaurants?

Datz

With innovative and decadent dishes such as their Cheesy Todd Burger, you can expect nothing less than sheer deliciousness from this South Tampa titan when it comes to fried foods. Their spicy Nashville fried chicken sandwich will make you say "Cluck, Yeah!" (which happens to be its name), and their sweet, syrupy Waffles n' Tweet is definitely worth tweeting to all of your friends about.

PDQ

PDQ stands for People Dedicated To Quality and that means you can expect delicious food and outstanding customer service from this growing brand. With several locations in Tampa, PDQ showcases juicy and fried chicken tenders, sandwiches, and nuggets all from right around the corner.

Kay's Kitchen

Who needs the Colonel when there's Kay's Kitchen in Ybor City? Their delicious leg and thigh meals are a steal! Locals also love Kay's because of their authentic Chicago-style chicken and friendly service, reminding many of their home up North.

Mr. B's

Serving the most "Bee-licious" Southern cuisine in Tampa, Mr. B's Cafe puts a sweet spin on the down-home favorite with their signature honey hot fried chicken, making for a superb sweet-and-spicy take on chicken and waffles. If you can't get enough, you can get a whole quarter chicken!

King of The Coop

This Seminole Heights restaurant is "king of the coop" indeed with their kickin' chicken sandwiches, tenders, and leg quarters. Pair any of these your favorite sides like cole slaw, mac n' cheese, and collard greens.

If King of the Coop's offerings taste (and sound) familiar, that's because you've had a fried chicken sandwich of the same name at Soul Food Street Kitchen, its sister restaurant. The latter sold so many of their fried chicken sandwiches that opening a fried chicken joint next was a no-brainer.

Maple Street Biscuit Company

In Carrollwood, Maple Street Biscuit Company takes the chicken biscuit to a whole new level with offerings like The Squacking Goat with goat cheese and house-made pepper jelly and The Sticky Maple with pecan-smoked bacon and maple syrup. They also have delicious chicken and waffles dubbed "BAM!Yo-Yo" (ask your server why they call it that).
