“We make everything bigger here,” explains Anthony, owner of Hawkeye's New York Style Pizza.
“Our niche is our 28” pizza, it’s huge,” he remarks. “All our menu items come in large portions.”
Their featured “huge” pizzas vary from traditional but delicious cheese or pepperoni, all the way to their speciality pizzas such as their Hawaiian, Buffalo Chicken, BBQ Chicken, and their Greek pizza.
Dinner options also carry on the “big” theme, featuring sizable options of either Chicken Parmesan, Stromboli, Ravioli, Lasagna, or Fettuccine Alfredo, just to name a few.
“We really focus on quantity over quality,” Anthony notes. “We also make amazing subs and chicken wings.”
Anthony is proud of his craft and puts hard-work into everything he does.
He - personally - began in the pizza business when he was 8-years-old, working alongside his father, an immigrant from Sicily who owned fine dining restaurants.
At 13, he started cooking, learning from some of the best chefs in the business.
Soon, Anthony would develop a vision, to open a restaurant of his own. First he opened at a location in Temple Terrace, then branched out to the New Tampa/Cross Creek area.
Since moving there 7 years ago, he has seen great success.
“There are many families in this area and we cater to them by providing a variety of options,” he explains. “We are also the only Halal (kosher) pizza in Tampa,” he adds, explaining that this targets a “niche” audience from all over.
In addition to delicious food, Hawkeye's is also like family, something reflected in the way they treat their customers.
“Some of my employees have worked here for 4 years,” he explains. “I’ve had the same staff for a long time; I like to keep things ‘family oriented’ and to take care of my employees and also my customers.”
That personal touch - whether in putting extra care into preparing each meal or going the extra mile to serve customers - that sets Hawkeye's New York Style Pizza apart.
