JoToro Kitchen and Tequila Bar define their food as fine Mexican provisions. The menu features wood-fired tacos, knife-and-fork burritos and reimagined salads taking old school classics and giving them a global twist. Located in the old Hooters location at Sparkman Wharf, the 220 seat restaurant has lively interior space and a coveted outdoor patio.

Driven by Michelin star Chef Joe Isidori this Mexican mash-up turns up the heat on the ever-evolving Water Street Tampa dining scene.

We start our meal with their delicious signature Tex-Mex Queso and Chips with the added option of Tex-Mex chili.

The Mexico City Street corn is a crowd favorite combining cotija cheese, chipotle, tajin (A tasty blend of mild chili peppers, lime and sea salt) and lime. The combined flavors and texture are exceptional.

We are excited to try their knife and fork burritos which prove to be beyond an ample sized meal. We wisely opt to split a very tasty Tex-Mex Queso Con Carne Burrito.

Desserts are not an afterthought at Jotoro’s, they are showstoppers! These overflowing sweets deliver on the global twist perhaps even more than the entrees.

First up the Pina Colada Sundae.

Not be outdone the Peanut Butter Sundae was scrumptious.
