By our standards, PDQ, the fast-casual chicken restaurant that premiered in South Tampa late last year, is a very solid restaurant concept that showed a lot of promise at the time we reviewed them for our Taste Tour of 813.

So, it's great news to hear that PDQ just opened a new location in Wesley Chapel and are "on track" to open locations in Carrollwood and St. Pete as well as Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina later on this year, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The brand new, 3,800 square foot PDQ Wesley Chapel opened on Sunday and served a staggering 2,000 customers throughout their first day.

PDQ, or Pretty Darn Quick, was co-founded by Bob Basham who also co-founded the Tampa-born Outback Steakhouse and Nick Reader, the CEO of MVP Holdings.  Their menu, while concise, is comparable to that of a bigger fast-casual chain like Chick-fil-A with selections like chicken tenders, fries, shakes, chicken sandwiches, and more.

While "chain" sometimes has negative connotations, PDQ has a standard of freshness that seems all too uncommon with its counterparts.  All their fries are hand-cut and their chicken comes as fresh and tender as possible.  We can vouch, it's pretty delicious.

Check out the new PDQ Wesley Chapel if you've never been.  If you've already experienced PDQ South Tampa, give them a quick rate and review on the PDQ South Tampa 813area business listing and let others know how you felt about your experience.
