Tampa is already a great place to live, so it shouldn’t surprise you to learn the city is also one of the best places in the country for a “staycation.” If you have some vacation time coming up, or you’re looking for a place to entertain your kids during spring break, don’t worry about finding an exotic destination. Stay home and have a blast on your Tampa staycation!

Busch Gardens

OK, this isn’t exactly a clever and unexpected choice... but a staycation doesn’t have to be clever and unexpected, it just needs to be fun. From animal habitat tours and exhibits, to its celebrated collection of roller coasters and thrill rides, Busch Gardens has delivered family fun for nearly 60 years.

If you’re planning to spend more than one day at Busch Gardens, get an annual pass. It costs less than two days’ admission to the park, plus you get free parking, discounts on merchandise and you can come back to visit on any of the other 363 days of the year. And right now, you get an extra three months free with an annual pass!

Florida Aquarium

Get up close and personal with some of Florida’s most beautiful marine and plant wildlife. Follow the Wetlands Trail through the aquarium’s atrium to see alligators, otters, and native birds, then continue into the Coral Reef exhibit for a 500,000 gallon natural seawater tank filled with sea turtles, eels, sharks and more. Stop by the Stingray Zone for a petting experience, see a movie in the 4D Theater, and splash around outside on The Splash Pad. The Florida Aquarium in Downtown Tampa is often ranked as one of the best aquariums in the U.S., well worth a stop on your Tampa staycation.

Now then... there’s a reason we put these four attractions together at the top. With the Tampa Bay CityPass, you can visit all four destinations (plus the Clearwater Marine Aquarium) for one low price — up to 51% off what you would pay for separate admissions! You can begin using your CityPass up to six months after you buy it, and once you visit the first attraction you have nine days to visit the others. It’s perfect for a week-long Tampa staycation!

Hillsborough River State Park

Looking for a more rugged staycation experience? Head up Highway 301 to Hillsborough River State Park for a piece of the great outdoors! The park offers (among other things) hiking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, picnicking and camping.
