Sunday May 1st, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders will hold auditions for the 2011-2012 season.

Basic requirements:

You must be 18 years or older by July 1st 2011.

You must obtain a High School diploma or G.E.D. by July 1st 2011.

You must be able to transport yourself to practices, appearances and games.

You will need an I.D. or driver’s license at every stage of auditions.

The preliminary audition process will begin at 11:00 A.M. Sunday at One Buc Place in Tampa. Groups of two to three participants will perform a “free-style” routine to a Top 40 hit. Walk-ups are welcome, however, pre-registration online is suggested to avoid lengthy wait times. Callbacks will take place Saturday, May 7th. Candidates will be tested on their dance skills by learning and demonstrating a new routine. The final round of auditions includes a training camp and one last performance. Training camp will consist of an interview, fitness assessment and kick line. The ladies who make it to this round will have to endure a mile run outside and a workout with the personal trainer of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders. Contestants will be given the opportunity to perform an individual talent such as singing, dance or monologue before the 2011-2012 team is selected.

Quick Tips From a Former Professional Cheerleader:

Make a good first impression on everyone in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization. The security guard in the parking lot to the receptionist at the front desk will have a say. People talk.

Smile. If you want to be a cheerleader for the Buccaneers, you will need to sport this accessory throughout the entire audition process. Consider it the most important part of your uniform.

Arrive with hair and make-up already styled. Curlers should be out, false lashes in place and lipstick smooth and creamy.

Bring a water bottle and snack.

Do not spend the afternoon on your cell phone. It is rude and people will be watching you whether you think they are or not. Instead be sociable. This will be required of you at public appearances if you make the team so practice your manners now.

Loud cursing, visible tattoos and a negative disposition are your ticket home.

Eat breakfast. A light breakfast and light snack will not bloat your tummy and sabotage your audition. Passing out on the field after a mile run in the Florida heat will.

Breathe. Laugh. Enjoy your experience.
