The USF Bulls mens basketball team is gearing up for a season of new beginnings and challenges as they enter their 2013-14 regular season, set to kick off on Saturday, November 9 with a home game against Tennessee Tech.
This marks the Bulls' first year in newly-formed American Athletic Conference, which split from the original Big East earlier this year leaving the Catholic 7 (DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall, and Villanova) behind, but still retaining the Big East name.
The new American Athletic Conference new includes South Florida, Cincinnati, Houston, Louisville, UCF, Connecticut, Memphis, Rutgers, SMU and Temple. AAC conference play will begin on New Year's Eve with a triple-header including Memphis versus USF at the Sun Dome; Louisville at UCF; and Connecticut at Houston. The triple header will broadcast live on ESPN 2, kicking off with with Louisville versus UCF at 5 p.m.; Memphis versus USF at 7 p.m.; and Connecticut squaring off against Houston at 9 p.m. EST.
The American Athletic League will feature a double round-robin schedule where each teams plays each of the other nine twice - once at home and once away - culminating with the 2014 American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship taking place March 12-15 at FedExForum in Memphis.
Following a 12-19 season last year, the Bulls have much to prove with both in-conference and out of conference play in the 2013-14 season. Out of conference opponents include Stetson, Bowling Green, George Mason, Oklahoma State and more.
