There you have it, the New England Patriots will win the Super Bowl.  I’m hoping it’s a close game, or else a lot of Super Bowl food will go to waste since fans will leave their parties at halftime.  It should be close, and it should be high-scoring since both teams’ offenses average more than 27 points a game.

There are two reasons I like the Pats in this one, and their names are Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Belichick is the best coach in pro football, one of the best ever.  Brady is the best quarterback in pro football, one of the best ever.  This is Belichick’s 10th Super Bowl as a coach, coordinator or assistant, and he’s after his 5th Super Bowl title as New England’s head coach.  This is Brady’s 7th Super Bowl as the Pats’ starting quarterback, and he’s after his 5th title.

Belichick has a reputation of figuring out a way for his defense to stop the other team’s biggest weapon.  Can he and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia stop, or at least slow down, Julio Jones?  I think they can.  The Pats have an excellent secondary, and even without veterans Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones, their defense is still outstanding.   I know you’ll disagree with me, but as great as Julio Jones is, he does blow hot and cold.  His best games are off the charts like his 300-yard game against Carolina.  But in addition to his 7 100-yard receiving games in the regular season, he had 7 less than 100… including 4 games under 35 yards.  Plus, he had just 6 touchdown receptions, not a lot for a top receiver.  And he missed 2 games late in the season with turf toe. New England is favored by a field goal.  Final score:  Patriots 37 Falcons 27. Enjoy the game!
