Three straight losses at home, one to the bottom-feeding Arizona Coyotes, seemed to spell doom for the Tampa Bay Lightning this week.

And now, they’re alive again, if for only another game.  Nine games to go, and three points out of the last playoff spot.  Plus, very little chance of seeing Steven Stamkos or Ryan Callahan again this season.
Ready to give up on them?  Again?

Who knows?  It’s tough to figure out which team is going to show up each night.  And for those of us who don’t play a game professionally, it’s difficult to fathom how they can take the ice in any of these crucial games and come up with a clunker… like the loss to the Coyotes, the dreadful Coyotes.

Then, they go to Boston to play the playoff-contending Bruins, put up 6 goals and win.

For starters, they need to get scoring from a line other than the Kucherov-Point-Palat line.  Alex Killorn and Jonathan Drouin went through long scoreless streaks, and that must end.

Nine games left… they need to win 6.. and still get help.  They have four games against non-playoff teams.. those have to be wins.  Then 2 more against the winning teams left on the schedule.
Impossible? What do you think?

As Rocco told Michael Corleone in Godfather II, “Difficult, not impossible.”
