The Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in Tampa will celebrateShark Week in conjunction with Discovery Channel's popular week of shark-related programing from August 3-9.

MOSI is gearing up to host a variety of special events, demonstrations, exhibits and more in celebration of these ferocious, but often-misunderstood sea creatures.

The Shark Week Kickoff will take place on Saturday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a variety of shark-related games, hands-on activities - including the opportunity for kids to build their own Lego® sharks inside MOSI’s inventor’s studio - and the opportunity to see the inner workings of sharks with MOSI's featured exhibitSea Monsters Revealed.

On Saturday, August 3 and throughout the week, MOSI guests will be able to see Dr. Daniel Huber, shark expert, consultant for Discovery Channel, and University of Tampa professor on hand to speak about some of the myths and mysteries associated with these fascinating creatures.

If you really want to get up close with a shark, MOSI will be doing a shark dissection demonstration live in the grand lobby on Saturday.

Shark Week ties in perfectly to MOSI's current featured exhibit Sea Monsters Revealed, where guests can see not only the outside, but also the inside of the most elusive aquatic life ever discovered, including a 15-foot-long mako shark, a pregnant silky shark, and an 18-foot-long, 3,000-pound whale shark for an additional museum fee.

Best of all, the first 50 people to arrive each day during Shark Week from August 3 – 9, will receive free MOSI admission when they buy a ticket to Sea Monsters Revealed.  Tickets are $18.95 for adults, $12.95 for kids, and $16.95 for seniors 60 and older.
