Yes, believe it or not, Christmas is less than 100 days away, and though we are keeping our eyes on the tropics and bearing the heat Fall in Tampa, such as it is, has arrived, with Oktoberfest and Halloween in Tampa on its heels! No matter the temperature, it's fun to participate in Fall Things to Do in Tampa like Festivals, Corn Mazes, Pumpkin Patch activities and more. The Hyde Park Village Fall Festival is a street-wide, free, family-friendly event kicking-off their month-long pumpkin patch and to celebrate the arrival of fall in Florida! Guests can enjoy craft beer and food trucks, live entertainment, pumpkin carving contests, games and much more Friday, September 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

High Risk Hope, is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. A  501(c)(3) nonprofit organization they formed in February 2011 to provide support, encouragement, information, and resources to women and families who are experiencing a high risk pregnancy resulting in hospital bed rest, potential premature birth, and neonatal intensive care after delivery. HRH is the only local or national organization providing services like these to women on long-term hospital bed rest and premature infants in the NICU. HRH reaches over 2,500 patients annually at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, HOAG Presbyterian Newport Beach, and California Pacific Medical Center San Francisco.

As a mom ordered to bedrest at the end of my second trimester I can tell you first hand; it isn't easy. Friends said things like, "How nice; you get to lay in bed all day! Wish someone would tell me to do that." Trust me, before bedrest I'd watch a man walk his dog every day and be grateful I did not have a dog or that daily chore. After a couple of weeks, I'd have given my left arm to be THAT GUY!

It's not easy; you feel isolated, have grave concerns for your baby and easily sink into depression. Depending on your job most moms cannot work, there's loss of income and added pressure on family members. You FOCUS on the calendar thinking, "I just have to make it to that date!" It's tough.

So thank goodness for the foresight of High Risk Hope, in recognizing this growing need, and doing something about it.  And kudos to WSDevelopment, the folks behind Hyde Park Village for supporting this cause!
