Who ever knew curry could be this exciting, all while supporting such an important cause?

Yes, in case you haven’t heard, the 2015 Tampa Bay International Curry Festival, which will feature savory delicacies, exciting events, and live music, will be held in part to support incredible local charities such as Pasco Kids First, a New Port Richey-based non-profit that assists in the protection of children from child abuse and neglect.

As Executive Director Richard Hess explains, Pasco Kids First aims to “keep kids safe and strengthen families.”

“We truly care about the mission we’ve assumed of helping the community become a safer place for kids and a place where parents can get the help and support they need to raise their children in strong families,” he adds.

The organization supports families by offering such programs and services as:

  • the Healthy Families program: promoting a healthy and nurturing family environment for children by community education, home visits and early intervention.
  • the Child Protection Team: providing diagnostic assessments on child abuse cases by medical and social service personnel.
  • Trauma Treatment: providing victim advocacy and specialized therapy for child victims of trauma, sexual abuse and physical abuse

“We strongly believe that children have an absolute right to grow up in a safe environment that meets at a minimum, their basic needs for adequate food, safe shelter and positive adult support,” the organization explains. “Our goal is to offer services that help to keep kids safe, help them to overcome the traumatic effects of abuse and neglect they may have suffered and to offer parents concrete supports, education and coaching to help them raise their children successfully.”

For over 25 years, Pasco Kids First has been providing effective and timely help to those in need.

They were recognized as “2013 Nonprofit Organization of the Year” by the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce, an elite honor that serves as a testament to the organization’s compassion and care for others.

“We’ve made a tremendous difference in the lives of many Pasco and Hernando children and families and take the responsibility of assisting them in leading safer, more rewarding lives very seriously,” Pasco Kids First expresses.

Yet all of this could not be accomplished without an incredible team of hard-working, compassionate individuals: “We are a community based team of caring professionals devoted to improving the well-being of children,” the organization expresses. “Our team is actively engaged in the prevention, assessment and treatment of child abuse and neglect.”

This sense of teamwork and professional care is what makes Pasco Kids First an organization like no other.
