The 12th Annual Taste of South Tampa, presented by Older, Lundy & Alvarez, will take place Sunday, April 2nd at the gorgeous Tampa Garden Club on Bayshore Boulevard. This rain or shine event will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm and will feature fare from dozens of local restaurants and brewers. An immensely popular foodie festival, competition is fierce among vendors as they vie for your Best of South Tampa votes.

There’s a wide range of edible options at this year’s Taste of South Tampa and a lot to be excited about. Boca Kitchen Bar and Market will be there - the precise nature of this year’s offerings are still top secret, but if you are very lucky, you might get to try their ridiculously delicious Boca Cubano. There are many Cuban sandwiches in the Tampa Bay area, but this one is hands down my favorite. Made with smoked ham, pork, real soppressata, Gruyère, and Urban Canning German IPA beer mustard, it’s accompanied by the best Parmesan truffle fries this side of Paris.
South Howard’s Cask Social Kitchen will also be there, serving up new American fare with a Southern twist. Their brunch menu is especially epic, with offerings like chicken & waffles, a poached lobster sandwich, and a smoked salmon galette. If you are lucky enough to get a spot for supper, be sure to enjoy their jumbo shrimp & grits, the crab crusted grouper, or the rock shrimp and lobster ravioli! *drooling*
The beverage offerings at the 2017 Taste of South Tampa are definitely just as exciting as the food. Event goers will be thrilled with the presentation from Florida Cane Distillery. Located on the corner of 8th Avenue and 15th Street in historic Ybor City, this micro-distillery offers free tours and tastings of their award-winning flavored vodkas, moonshine, and gin. From personal experience, I have to recommend their Plant City Strawberry Vodka - it’s crisp and flavorful without being too sweet, and goes perfectly with a splash of soda water for a refreshing adult treat.
