Sleep all day, party all night. If you’re a night owl looking for a place to shake your booty or groove to live tunes, check back here weekly for some of our favorite hotspots. You can always count on a good time at the Hard Rock Casino, Blue Martini and Ybor City, especially the Crow Bar, Prana and New World Brewery for indie sounds. Transitions Art Gallery at Skatepark of Tampa and Creative Loafing’s new Ybor City studio space are definitely worth checking out, high on the hip factor. For concerts, St. Pete Times Forum and The Ritz Ybor rock, as does the “The Name I Refuse To Say” Amphitheater. Still footloose and on the live music prowl? Go here:

Country: I thought the Bellamy Brothers were dead until I saw them live at Dallas Bull, as well as
dozens of other hot country stars and the purtiest bartenders and servers on the planet. Free line dancing Wed.-Sat. 7:30- 9:30 p.m., then the real deal two-steps in. Even Kenny Chesney has been known to stop in after a concert! Going strong since 1979 and once you c’mon in, you’ll see why.

Jazz: The Fox is sadly gone, and jazz piano can be heard at area hotel bars and sometimes a jazz
band at Aquaknox. Even the local jazz station is now gone mixed, so jazz aficiandos, start beating the streets and beg your favorite hang-out to book live jazz. Seasons 52, near Westshore, has a terrific piano bar, and the low calorie and the ethnic tour de force cuisine is startling delicious, enhanced by their amazing wine by the glass list.

Dancing: Very chi chi, very upscale, Jackson’s Bistro is the place to dance the night away on Friday and Saturday night. Fantasy Fridays serves up a mélange of tunes, from House music to the best of the 80’s and 90’s. Book a VIP or cabana spot, and ogle the beautiful people. Saturday sexes it up with South Beach Latin swank style.

Dueling Pianos: Think Survivor, the musical. Howl at the Moon in Channelside is a great place to take out of town visitors. Thursday through Sunday.

Action Jackson: It feels live thanks to the polished celebrity deejays. The Hyde Park Café tops the
club scene, offering special privilege cards for goddesses, hospitality and collegiate crowds as well
as a scene and be seen VIP area as well as the Biergarten, Velocite high tech nightclub and Wally &
Bernie’s intimate lounge.

Blues: Skipper's Smokehouse is legendary both for its Floribbean flavor, communal benches and
beachy fare as well as for its blues, reggae and world music concerts and Grateful Dead tribute
band. I’ve seen long tall Marsha Ball, Dicky Betts and Jonathan Richman. Skipper's presents a
nightly parade of live music. The music has grown & diversified from a local "open jam" to a world
class operation featuring the top names & many Grammy winners in Blues, Reggae, Zydeco, Cajun
Roots Tock, Bluegrass, Acoustic, jazz, Folk & Worldbeat. Bands from around the world have played
The Skipperdome: from the British Isles to Russia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, & Chile; Nigeria,
Madagascar, Kenya, Zaire to South Africa, Australia and across North America. Call or check the
